PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeder capable of providing a stable sheet feed performance even if its service life nears an expiration date. SOLUTION: A sheet feed means is controlled by one turn by selectively transmitting the drive of a drive gear 8g to the sheet feed means by a tooth-chipped gear 8e. A trigger member 8f holds the tooth-chipped gear 8e by a locking part 8f1 at a position where the tooth-chipped part 8e2 faces the drive gear 8g. Also, when sheets are fed, the trigger member 8f is moved from a restricted position where the tooth-chipped gear 8e is held at the position where the tooth-chipped part 8e2 faces the drive gear 8g to a position where the rotation of the tooth-chipped gear 8e is allowed, and returns to the restricted position when the tooth-chipped gear 8e is rotated by one turn so as to control the tooth-chipped gear 8e by one turn. Then, when the trigger member 8f is returned to the restricted position, a pressing part 8f4 provided on the trigger member 8f presses the tooth-chipped gear 8e before one turn is performed to pressingly rotate the tooth-chipped gear 8e to the one-turned position of the tooth-chipped gear 8e.
