PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a perpendicular magnetic recording medium thermally stabilized in lowering medium noise and recording magnetization. SOLUTION: The recording layer 45 of the perpendicular magnetic recording medium 40 is formed of a single-layered magnetic particulates 47 arrayed uniformly, and is formed with an auxiliary magnetic film 44 thinner than the recording layer 45 between the recording layer 45 and a substrate 41. the magnetic particulates 47 are fixedly magnetized by the exchange interaction of the auxiliary magnetic film 44.
