PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-quality hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate in which both the contents of an alkylene glycol di(meth)acrylate and an acid component are low, and to provide a new method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This method for producing the hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate comprises conducting batch reaction of (meth)acrylic acid with an alkylene oxide in the presence of a catalyst, wherein both the raw materials are fed into a reactor in such a manner that a mol ratio of an amount of the alkylene oxide fed into the reactor to an amount of the (meth)acrylic acid fed thereinto is set to be 1.0 or more during a period so specified that time in which both the fed raw materials are kept at 40°C or higher in the reactor becomes 40% or longer based on the total time required for feeding the both raw materials thereinto. Thus, the hydroxyalkyl (meth)arylate which contains the alkylene glycol di(meth)acrylate in an amount of≤0.1 wt% as an impurity and an acid component in an amount of≤0.1 wt% is obtained.
