PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a secure and pleasant mail reception environment for a transmission destination terminal for receiving mail data. SOLUTION: When a reception function section 11 receives external mail data, an attribute information detecting function section 14 detects attribute information, and a decision function section 15 compares and collates the attribute information with reception hold decision information in a reception hold decision information storage section 19, determines it to be a held mail when the comparison and collation indicate that the reception of the mail data is not permitted, and stores the mail data into a held mail box 20. After the held mail box 20 stores the held mail, confirmation mail is transmitted to the transmission destination terminal 2 to urge the transmission destination terminal 2 to determine whether or not the terminal 2 receives the mail data in the held mail, and when acknowledgement mail is received, it is determined whether or not the held mail is to be sent to the transmission destination terminal 2, and the held mail is stored into a spool file storage section 13 depending on the decision result to bring the held mail to be a receptible state from the transmission destination terminal 2.
