摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly efficiently observe each mixed drop of a large number of wells formed in crystallization search plates, and to accurately and reliably detect the presence or the absence of the formation of crystals, the sizes of the crystals, etc. SOLUTION: The apparatus is provided with a plate housing body 1, having a plate support frame 6 for housing the crystallization search plates 2, which are formed approximately horizontally and vertically in a plurality of stages and in which a plurality of the wells 2a are formed in rows and columns; a light-detecting device 7, having both an illumination device for illuminating the wells 2a and a photographic device for detecting changes in light from the wells 2a due to the illumination; movement-driving devices 8X, 8Y, and 8Z for detecting all the wells 2a by moving the light detecting device 7 vertically, forward, backward, and to the right and left, with respect to the plate housing body 1; an image processing device for performing image processing on signals from the photographing device and outputting image signals capable of detecting the formation of the crystal in each well 2a; and a control device for controlling the movements of the light-detecting device 7 by the movement-driving devices 8X, 8Y, and 8Z.
