PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for driving an LCD are provided to maintain uniformly a variation of voltage of a liquid crystal capacitor by supplying a voltage corresponding to a common voltage to data lines during a blank period of a vertical synchronous signal. CONSTITUTION: A method for driving an LCD includes a data supply process and an inversion voltage supply process. The data supply process is to supply data of positive polarity and negative polarity to liquid crystal cells during an active period of a vertical synchronous signal. The inversion voltage supply process is to supply an inversion reference voltage to the liquid crystal cells during a blank period of the vertical synchronous signal. The liquid crystal cells includes a liquid crystal capacitor. The liquid crystal capacitor includes a pixel electrode for receiving the data of positive polarity and negative polarity and a common electrode for receiving a common voltage.
