<p>New 1,3-Dioxane derivs, I, (where R1 and R2 denote H, lower alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or alkaryl; R = lower alkyl; and R' = -CHO or -CH=NR1, in which R1 may be substituted with O,S or N groups) may be prepared by heating acetals of trimethylolalkanes in the presence of a dehydrating catalyst and possibly a primary amine, in the liquid or gaseous state at 200-400 degrees C pref 220-310 degrees C.</p> |
