PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device capable of preventing overshooting during which a lower shaft rotates surpassing an upper shaft, and preventing the lower shaft from laterally rotating/vibrating relative to the upper shaft due to the occurrence of overshooting. SOLUTION: When the lower shaft rotates while surpassing the upper shaft, a phase compensating gain of a control portion controlling a driving current of a steering auxiliary motor 5 is reduced and/or the width of a dead band is expanded, thereby preventing overshooting by delaying an increase in the driving current of a motor 5, and preventing lateral rotation/vibration of the lower shaft by suppressing power dispatching of the driving current reversing the motor 5.
