<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus having a fixing device including a fixing nip and a belt nip, which optimally sets the glossiness of a toner image after fixed and eliminates a glossiness difference. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus having a fixing device provided with a gloss level selection means for allowing the selection of at least two levels in gloss after fixing, is characterized in that an auxiliary pressure member which is in pressure contact with a second roller member via a belt member is provided at the transfer material exit of a belt nip area. Additionally, the auxiliary pressure member is provided with an auxiliary heat means, and according to a gloss level selected by the gloss level selection means, a heat output by the auxiliary heat means is switched. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
