PURPOSE: A sheet feeding device for an image forming apparatus and a control method thereof are provided to prevent printing work from stopping by controlling the feed rate of a sheet conveying unit when sheets are fed continuously. CONSTITUTION: A sheet feeding device for an image forming apparatus is composed of a sheet pickup unit(110) picking a sheet up, a sheet conveying unit(120) conveying the picked sheet to a predetermined place, a sheet feeding unit(130) feeding the conveyed sheet to print an image on the sheet, a sensor unit(140) detecting the position of the fed sheet, and a control unit(100). The control unit controls the feed rate of the sheet conveying unit when the sheets are fed continuously.
