ALICYCLIC COPOLYMER, METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME AND OPTICAL RESIN

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alicyclic copolymer excellent in heat resistance and/or optical characteristics and to produce a method for producing the copolymer and to provide an optical resin using the alicyclic copolymer. SOLUTION: The alicyclic copolymer comprises a structural unit derived from an alicyclic bisepoxy compound represented by general formula (1) and/or (2) and a structural unit derived from an alicyclic bisepoxy compound represented by general formula (3) and/or (4) [wherein Cy is an adamantylene group; R1is a phenylene group; R2is a hydrogen atom or a pentafluorophenyl group]. The alicyclic copolymer is excellent in heat resistance and/or optical characteristics and can be used for optical applications such as clad layers 12 and 14 of a fiber 10 for optical transmission.
