PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved axial holding device for a bladed rotor such as a turbine engine fan rotor. SOLUTION: A rotor blade (40) for a bladed rotor is characterized by a chamfered attachment (44) for improving an energy absorption capability of a snap ring used as one part of an blade axial retention system. When an exorbitantly large force is extended on the blade (40), the chamfered attachment (44) plastically deforms the snap ring rather than shearing through it. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
