PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rational and efficient filtering method which enables the reuse or reutilization (recycling) of a wet solid (filter cake) becoming residue after filtering as a food related raw material as it is by using starch capable of being subjected to food, generating no environmental pollution and friendly to environment, a filter aid and a filter agent. SOLUTION: In a filtering method widely used for manufacturing food or the like, starch such as assimilated starch, stored starch or the like obtained from a green plant, a mixture of a different kind of starches, a mixture of starch and other filter aid or the like is used as the filer aid and fed to the surface of a filter medium before filtering to form a film or a layer to precoat the surface of the filter element becoming a filter medium. A material to be treated is filtered by the precoated filter element or mixed with the filter element to be together filtered or filtering is performed using a filter-element integrated type filter and requiring no precoating.
