PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charge coupled device (CCD) which operates with high frequencies. SOLUTION: The CCD comprises a substrate 90 of a first kind; a photosensitive area of a second kind which is arranged on the substrate 90 for receiving incident light to be converted to an electric charge packet; a transportation mechanism for transporting the electric charge packet through the CCD; an output mechanism which receives the transported electric charge packet; a reset gate 130 for resetting the output mechanism to electric charge voltage; and a logical device 150 which is arranged on the substrate 90 for inputting a gate waveform to the reset gate 130 for performing reset operation by a reset operation device.
