PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To overcome the problem in which, during consecutive printing in which fixing is consecutively carried out on sheets of paper, the temperature of the paper non-passage area on the surfaces of a fixing roller and a pressure roller rises, the temperature difference between the paper non-passage area and paper passage area becomes consequently large, a speed at which paper is transported varies in the axial direction, and paper and an image are distorted, thereby causing deterioration of image quality. SOLUTION: The device is provided with a first sensor 151 disposed on the paper passage area on the surface of the fixing roller 143 or the pressure roller 146, and a second sensor 152 disposed on the paper non-passage area on the surface of the other roller on which the first sensor is not provided. On the basis of detection values from the first sensor 151 and the second sensor 152, heating means 148 and 149 within the respective rollers are independently turned ON/OFF, thereby controlling the surface temperatures of the rollers so as to have predetermined values.
