The fitting for especially the seat of a motor vehicle has at least two functional sections (15,23) provided for the relative movement and/or unlocking of different components (11,25) of the seat. A means of control are provided between the functional sections and have a pull cable (61) or suchlike in closed form between these sections. The pull cable is guided over a roller provided on each functional section. The first roller (35) allocated to the first functional section is connected torsionally fixed to a pivotable component (11) on the seat. The second roller (45) allocated to the second functional section is mounted to be freely rotatable. An Independent claim is included for the seat of a motor vehicle equipped with the proposed fitting.
