PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rapidly execute negative pressure control in a space between a sealing means and an ink bag in an ink jet recording apparatus. SOLUTION: This apparatus comprises a recording head 41 provided with a nozzle part for ejecting an ink, an ink bag 51 for storing an ink, communicating with the nozzle part, a sealing means 52 for sealing the ink bag 51, a purge pump 53 for negative pressure vacuuming in a space between the sealing means 52 and the ink bag 51, a negative pressure detecting means 57 for measuring the pressure in the space between the sealing means 52 and the ink bag 51, a memory means 59 with data of a predetermined parameter stored, and a negative pressure controlling means 58 for having the purge pump 53 execute negative pressure vacuuming until the negative pressure value detected by the negative pressure detecting means 57 attains a preset target negative pressure value based on the data read out from the memory means 59.
