<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the characteristics and/or reliability of a transistor using a conductive polymer and, to provide a display device using the transistor. <P>SOLUTION: The transistor is provided with a first electrode 3, a second electrode 4, and a semiconductor layer 6 provided between the first and second electrodes 3 and 4. The transistor is also provided with a third electrode 2 which impresses an electric field upon the semiconductor layer 6.
