PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a static pressure seal capable of maintaining a stable sealing characteristic for a long period of time and a refrigerant pump furnished with it. SOLUTION: End parts 34b-1, 35a-1 on the side of a rotation axis on contact surfaces 34b, 35a of a face plate 34 and a retainer 35 are made into a stepped form on which the face plate and the retainer make contact with each other in the radial direction of the rotation axis on a stationary side seal ring, and a back surface O ring 40 is interposed between the contact surfaces of the face plate and the retainer making contact with each other in the radial direction on this stepped form part. Otherwise, the back surface O ring is provided in an O ring groove formed on the contact surface of the retainer or on the contact surface of the face plate, and a clearance part of a low pressure side inner surface of this O ring groove and the back surface O ring is closed with a spacer. Or, a labyrinth seal structure is provided on the contact surface of the retainer or the contact surface of the face plate by forming continuous irregularities in the radial direction of the rotation axis.
