The operating system (1) for a switched valve drive, in an internal combustion motor, engages a spiral groove in a cam with at least two different lifting cams for its axial displacement. The system has a housing (2) with a projecting telescopic bolt (3) to give a direct engagement with the spiral groove using a mechanical spring (4) and a permanent electro adhesion magnet (5). When it is not energized, the bolt is held disengaged from the spiral groove, and the spring acts on the bolt to move it towards the spiral groove. The end of the bolt within the housing transits into an actuator rod (7) with a permanent magnet anchor plate (9) at the end (8) away from the bolt.
