PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape printer and its label forming method in which a half cut can be made at a desired position of a print tape in order to form a label of a desired length. SOLUTION: In the tape printer where label elements La are arranged by feeding a print tape T produced by laminating a strip tape Ta and a tape body Tb, printing on the tape body Tb, and then making a half cut for cutting only the tape body Tb in the direction orthogonal to the feeding direction of tape, the method for forming a label comprises a step for fully cutting off a printed part, i.e., a label area L, a step for specifying the full cut position of the print tape T at an arbitrary position in the label area L, and a step for performing half cut based on the specification results of the cut position specifying step and arranging a plurality of label elements La in the label area L.
