PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical system apparatus provided to an image reader for easily outputting an output signal in a subscanning direction of an original by using a means for turning an image forming lens around the optical axis. SOLUTION: In the optical system scanner for the image reader, an optical assembly 30 combining a CCD 27 placed at a fixed position with respect to a holder 35 and a lens assembly 31 is placed and the image of the scanning light of an original reflected via a mirror of the scanner is formed to the CCD 27. Since the lens assembly 31 is supported by guide rings 36, 37 of the holder 35 in a turnable way around the optical axis, a position at which the resolution of each part of the ray in the subscanning direction formed to the CCD is made constant can be detected by turning the lens assembly 31.
