<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small, long service life, and silent gas pressure regulator, an electrochemical device, a gas storage device, and a gas pressure regulating method. <P>SOLUTION: This gas pressure regulator has an electrochemical cell composed of a first pole for decomposing gas into an ion, a second pole for converting the ion generated by the first pole again into gas, and an ion conductor sandwiched between both these poles, and a high pressure vessel arranged on one side of this electrochemical cell. The gas pressure regulating method comprises a decomposing process of decomposing the gas into the ion by the first pole, a conduction process of conducting the decomposed ion to the second pole side via the ion conductor sandwiched between the first pole and the second pole, and a converting process of converting the conducted ion again into the gas by the second pole. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
