<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method or a system for controlling emission of vapor during refueling of a fuel tank of a motor vehicle by properly shutting off a nozzle to prevent overflow or spillage of fuel. <P>SOLUTION: A vapor vent system for a fuel tank has a vapor vent valve 34 in the top of the tank with its outlet connected to a storage canister 54. The vent valve outlet is connected to the canister 54 through a recirculation connection 60 which is also connected to the filler tube 40 for vapor recirculation. A seal 45 is disposed in the filler tube to seal around a nozzle 48 at a time of insertion of the nozzle. A neck portion 50 located downstream of the recirculation connection 60 and receiving the nozzle 48 into close-contact with its inside diameter sized to be a predetermined dimension to form dynamic seal around liquid discharged from the nozzle, is provided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
