PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the moving speed variation of a recording head depending on a mechanical conveyance system and to stably move the recording head at a speed which can correspond to required high image quality. SOLUTION: A measured value of every section (sampling cycle: 180 Hz) is obtained when a recording head main body 37A is driven practically from a home position by using a precision measuring instrument, and the speed correction data of each section are calculated/prepared from the measured value and housed in advance in a corrected data housing part 264. The housed speed correction data are read out every section to correct a standard pulse for driving a pulse motor 206. Practically, since the corrected section is different from the measured section, a correction timeΔt is set up corresponding to its ratio. In this way, a non-linear correction in every section unit is made possible so that the movement of the recording head 37A (subordinate scanning) is stabilized. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
