A net-like fibrillated film is laminated, bonded or thermally joined to conventional polypropylene or polyethylene films. The process and equipment for production of the final product are matched to a preceding transverse stretching roll so that a stretched fibrillated film maintains an optimized position on a layer of PP or PE film for specific characteristics. Fibrillated film is wound onto rolls in the appropriate width and then fed via the transverse stretching roll to the coating equipment. Fibrillated film may be laminated between two layers of PP or PE film to produce a sandwich structure. Multi-layer film can be produced by laying the fibrillated film layers in both longitudinal and transverse directions, pressing together between rolls and feeding to the coating plant.
