FIELD: medicine. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to field of medicine, namely to thoratic surgery and can be used for reduction of lung volume in case of emphysema. Essence of method is in carrying out lateral thoracotomy. Polypropylene surgical mesh, 30x30 cm in size, with cut out hole 5-6 cm in diametre on one of mesh edges is superimposed on root of lung upper lobe. Lobe root is placed into the hole, mesh is fixed around the root, and sutures are applied to fix the mesh. ^ EFFECT: application of claimed invention allows to reduce time of pleural cavity drainage considerably and avoid complications, induced by lung resection or valve implantation.
