PURPOSE:To improve the adhesive strength between a base material and a thin cobalt film, by providing a metallic intermediate layer between a base material and a thin cobalt film so that a zinc-enriched layer comes into contact with the thin-film side at the time of forming a thin cobalt film on a base material. CONSTITUTION:At the time of forming a thin film (about 10Angstrom -100mu film thickness) of cobalt or cobalt alloy on a base material of stainless steel, etc., a metallic intermediate layer (>=about 50Angstrom film thickness) having a zinc-enriched layer at least on the thin-film side is provided between both mentioned above. As the metallic intermediate layer, zinc or a zinc alloy (5-50wt% zinc content), such as bronze, is used and this layer is heat-treated at 150-300 deg.C for 1-60min, so that surface-layer part is formed into a zinc-enriched layer of high zinc content. Subsequently, a thin film of cobalt or cobalt alloy is formed on the above zinc-enriched layer by a dry plating method (vacuum vapor deposition method, etc.). By this method, the adhesive strength between the base material and the thin cobalt film, etc., can be increased and improved, and this method is suitably used for subjecting a rubber composition to vulcanizing adhesion.
