PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high voltage variable resistor in which the creeping distance between a slider and the outside of a bearing hole can be extended without increasing a thickness of an insulation case. SOLUTION: The high voltage variable resistor comprises; an insulation case 10; a board 20 which has a resistor on its surface and is housed in the insulation case 10 so that its surface faces to the inner bottom part of the insulation case 10; a rotary shaft 30 which is rotatably inserted into the bearing hole 12, and has a flange part 33 larger than the bearing hole 12 in the insulation case; and a slider 40 which is attached to a flange part 33 of the rotary shaft 30 and slides across the resistor of the base 20. In the flange part 33 of the rotary shaft 30, a first peripheral wall part 34 protruding to the inner bottom side of the insulation case 10 and a second peripheral wall part 35 protruding to the substrate side and surrounding the slider are integrally formed.
