Longitudinally extending superconducting structure (2) comprises: (a) a biaxially textured support (3) made from a nickel material; (b) an intermediate system (6) deposited on the support and consisting of a first intermediate layer (4) made from cerium oxide facing the support and a second intermediate layer (5) made from cerium oxide arranged on the first intermediate layer; and (c) a superconducting layer (7) made from a high Tc superconducting material of the composition (RE)M2Cu3Ox (RE = rare earth metal including yttrium; and M = alkaline earth metal). An Independent claim is also included for a process for the production of a superconducting structure. Preferred Features: The superconducting material is of the type YBa2Cu3Ox. The Y component and/or the Ba component can be partially replaced by an element of the corresponding group. The first intermediate layer is at least 10 nm thick and the second intermediate layer is 50-200 nm thick.
