PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To associate a plurality of local caches with each other with no redundancy without using a dedicated computer in a data cache method. SOLUTION: A total information management part is arranged in each of a plurality of terminals, and data referred by the terminal are stored in the terminal for management so that only one of the total information management parts is operated. By the total information management part designated to be operated, a total information storage part is formed inside the terminal. The total information management part designated to be operated notifies a plurality of reference request processing parts that the total information management part is in operation. By receipt of a reference request from the terminal, inquiry about management information of the data is made, and on the basis of response to the inquiry, data are obtained from the terminal shown in the response if the data are cached, and the obtained data are returned to the terminal demanding the reference request.
