HIGH PRESSURE FUEL SUPPLY DEVICE OF INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high pressure fuel supply device of an internal combustion engine allowing accurate fuel metering with a high pressure pump of an engine driving type, especially when maximum fuel delivery is required and a small amount of fuel delivery is required.

SOLUTION: The high pressure pump 7 delivers fuel to a delivery pipe 2 after a valve closing mechanism 16a closes a valve element 16 to close a suction port 7b in a delivery process. A timing of issuing a valve closing command to the valve closing mechanism is determined by correcting a reference valve closing command timing for a required fuel delivery amount with a feedback correction amount based on a difference between a target fuel pressure and an actual fuel pressure in the delivery pipe. This feedback correction amount is also used for correcting the reference valve closing command timing for the maximum fuel delivery amount of the high pressure pump and the reference valve closing command timing for the substantially minimum fuel delivery amount of the high pressure pump.
