METHOD FOR RESTRICTING DISTRIBUTION OF ILLEGAL CONTENTS AND EDGE ROUTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrict distribution of illegal contents and access to an unallowed contents providing server in an IP network. SOLUTION: When a user terminal utilizing the IP network requires the distribution of contents to a contents providing server, an edge router arranged between the user terminal and the contents providing server operates like the contents providing server for the user terminal and requires the distribution of the contents in place of the user terminal for the contents providing server. The edge router receives and decodes the contents distributed from the contents providing server, and certifies the contents and checks copyright of them. The edge router does not allow the illegal contents to pass to the user terminal and allows legal contents only to pass to the user terminal. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
