PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely and surely re-start an induction motor after the stop control when an output of an inverter is supplied to the induction motor via a filter circuit to drive the induction motor. SOLUTION: An induction motor 3 is connected with output terminals t<SB>01</SB>and t<SB>02</SB>of an inverter 2 via a filter circuit 6 composed of a reactor 4 and a capacitor 5 and control pulse signals G1-G4 are supplied to switching devices Q1-Q4, of which the inverter 2 is composed, from a control circuit 7 to conduct the stop control of the induction motor. If a stop command is inputted to the control circuit 7 when the induction motor 3 is in operation, an attenuation factor K is gradually reduced to '0' by a voltage reduction processing unit 12, an output voltage command V1* of a multiplier 11 is gradually reduced, the output voltage V1 of the inverter is gradually reduced to '0', a power generated by the induction motor 2 is regenerated to a DC power supply 1 side, and a flux in the induction motor 3 is made to be '0' to suppress the power generating operation.
