PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a curtain coating apparatus and a curtain coating method, by which a stable curtain-like liquid film is formed to obtain a stable film thickness even when a high viscous coating liquid is used, and a high speed coating is carried out. SOLUTION: In the curtain coating method by which the curtain-like liquid film formed by making the coating liquid discharged from a coater to fall down between a pair of edge guides attached to the coater falls down to collide with a continuously carried belt-like supporting body to form a coating film, each of a pair of the edge guides has a flow-out port for an assistant liquid on the surface to be contact with the curtain-like liquid film and the flow-out port is made flat-shaped.
