PURPOSE:To enable automatic and manual sheet feed with simplified constitution and without multiple sheet carriage by providing a control means for actuating a carriage roller with a semicircular roller at rest, according to a sensor detected signal. CONSTITUTION:When image sensitive sheets 'C' are manually fed, a control unit 78 controls a semicircular roller 74 against the rotation thereof on the basis of an operation signal 'A' in a manual feed mode. And an operator feeds the sheets 'C' to a carriage roller 76 through a space below the roller 74 along a manual feed tray 75. This tray 75 has a restriction board 79 constraining one side of the sheets 'C' and, therefore, the sheets 'C' are fed in a proper direction, so far as manually inserted along the restriction board 79 at the time of manual feed. Furthermore, even when the sheets 'C' have reached the contact part of the carriage roller 76 at rest, the leading ends of the sheets 'C' are arranged in a proper direction via deflection due to an excessive feed.
