PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device having a high-security authenticating function which can easily authenticates a user even if the user does not know an authentication code. SOLUTION: This device comprises a question storage unit 17 storing questions regarding to names of proper user's family members or relatives, a name storage unit 15 storing correct answers (names) to questions about the proper user, a dummy name storage unit 16 storing dummy answers which resemble the correct answers, and an authentication unit 14 authenticating a user as a proper user when the correct answers is selected from a list of candidates in which dummy answers are mingled with the correct answer.
