OPTICAL COMMUNICATION APPARATUS AND ITS MONITORING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical communication apparatus allowing long range communication with a high convenience, the high quality of communication and high speed communication to a monitor optical transmission path for a transmitting optical signal from a transmitting side.

SOLUTION: The apparatus is configured such that: an optical communication device (transmitting side) 1 is connected to an optical communication device (receiving side) 11 via an optical transmission path L1 forming a first optical transmission path and an optical transmission path L2 forming a second optical transmission path; an optical signal SL formed by multiplexing a main signal SM as light and a monitoring control signal SK1is transmitted to the optical communication device (receiving side) 11 via the optical transmission path L1 (first optical transmission path); and states of an own self device (optical communication device 1), the optical transmission path L1, the optical communication device 11 and the optical transmission path L2 of the optical communication device (receiving side) 11 is monitored (recognized) by receiving a monitoring control signal SK2transmitted via the optical transmission paths L2 (second optical transmission path).
