PURPOSE: A brown gas mass-generating apparatus including laterally arranged electrolytic cells is provided to improve electrolysis efficiency by opening the upper surface of electrode unit so that bubbles flow fast and improve electrolysis efficiency and assembly operation by forming electrolytic cell tank and electrode unit of synthetic resin. CONSTITUTION: The brown gas mass-generating apparatus including laterally arranged electrolytic cells comprises a laterally arranged electrode unit(10) for generating a large amount of brown gas by electrolysis of water; an electrolytic cell tank(15) in which the electrode unit is installed with a certain space part being secured in the upper part of the electrode unit; an electrolyte subsidiary tank(20) for continuously supplying electrolyte into the electrolytic cell tank; a forcible circulation and cooling system(25) comprising electrolyte circulation pump(21) and condensing unit(22); an automatic water supplying system(30) for supplying supplementary water into the electrolyte subsidiary tank; and a backfire prevention system(35) for stably supplying brown gas generated from the electrode unit to burner (B) as preventing backfire, wherein the laterally arranged electrode unit comprises lateral plate having wide width, upper and lower supporting elements, plurality of positive and negative electrode plates and insulation member, and wherein the electrolytic cell tank is formed of synthetic resin, and a safety plate valve(14) is mounted on the upper part of the electrolytic cell tank.
