PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner with a suction opening adaptable for several floor types. SOLUTION: Dust is sucked in with an airflow generated by the operation of an electric air blower 13 and sucked air is introduced to a dust chamber to collect dust. Two suction openings, a first suction opening 81 and a second suction opening 82, are provided and these are switched by a switch 90. The second suction opening 82 has larger opening dimensions so that a high-speed suction airflow is generated. A suction passage 83 is provided between the first suction opening 81 and the switch 90, and a suction passage 85 is provided between the second suction opening 82 and the switch 90, the suction passage 85 being placed over the suction passage 83.
