AIR BAG DEVICE FOR KNEE PROTECTION

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air bag device for knee protection capable of protection of a driver's knee in a way that the air bag completing deployment expansion properly exerts cushion operation on the knee of a driver.

SOLUTION: The air bag device for knee protection is formed that the air bag 45 contained in a folded state in a position below a steering column 5 on the front side of the knee K of the driver D causes expansion gas to flow in and protrudes from a containing portion to the rear side of the vehicle and is deployed and expanded upward, and covers the bottom side of the steering column 5 and the both sides of the steering column 5 and can protect the knee K of the driver D. The air bag 45 during completion of deployment and expansion situates thick parts 48 to thicken thickness in positions on both sides of the steering column 5 and disposes a thin part 49 to thin thickness is situated in the position on the bottom side of the steering column 5.
