<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating coffee grounds which can efficiently decompose coffee grounds without consuming a large amount of energy and can sufficiently prevent the production of dioxins. <P>SOLUTION: The method includes a pretreatment process for treating the coffee grounds by using an acid or alkali and an anaerobic digestion process for the anaerobic digestion of the treated coffee grounds. Since the coffee grounds, after being partially decomposed by the alkali, etc., are subjected to anaerobic digestion, to be different from incineration and carbonization, most of the coffee grounds can be decomposed without needing a large amount of energy to be converted into methane gas. In this way, the coffee grounds can be decomposed efficiently to reduce the volume sufficiently, and the production of dioxin can be prevented effectively. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
