A synthetic fibre manufacturing unit has a filter with a mass of sand resting on a cup-shaped support plate (4) under a jet block. In the direction of flow (A) the base (4) is positioned over a tubular section (8) forming a filter chamber. The base (4) and the tubular section (8) are especially formed as discrete components, with the base (4) fitted on the tubular section (8).
