PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal alignment film formed of an oriented liquid crystal layer obtained from a mixture containing a liquid crystal polymer and a liquid crystal monomer wherein no phase separation is generated in the oriented liquid crystal layer and a method for manufacturing the same.

SOLUTION: The liquid crystal alignment film consists of the oriented liquid crystal layer obtained by film forming the mixture containing at least the liquid crystal polymer and the liquid crystal monomer, subsequently orienting the film formed mixture in a liquid crystal state and subsequently polymerizing the liquid crystal monomer and is characterized by having the oriented liquid crystal layer with no phase separation.
