PURPOSE: A method, apparatus and system for providing a backup and load balancing service based upon a dual transmission lines are provided to perform a stable transmission line backup and effectively disperse a load. CONSTITUTION: A WLB(WAN Load Balancer)(101) is coupled to the first and second ISPs(Internet Service Provider)(103,105) through a router(113) and an ADSL modem(115), and to a terminal through an Ethernet(121) or a wireless LAN(119). The WLB(101) can be a router having a function of performing a backup and load balancing. The router(113) also serves as a gateway. The ADSL modem(115) is a network access unit which enables a subscriber terminal(123) to access the first and second ISPs(103,105). The WLB(101) can be connected to a server and plural terminals through an LAN(Local Area Network)(130). The first ISP(103) is connected to the first transmission line(109), and the second ISP(105) is connected to the second transmission line(111). The first and second ISPs(103,105) are connected to the Internet(107). The first transmission line(109) is connected from the WLB(101) to the Internet(107) via the first ISP(103). The second transmission line(111) is connected from the WLB(101) to the Internet(107) via the second ISP(105). The first transmission line(109) is used as a main line while the second transmission line(111) is used as a sub-line. The sub-line is used for transmission line backup or load balancing.
