PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for executing error diffusion for multiple resolution expression for an image. SOLUTION: A method and a device for executing error diffusion for multiple resolution expression for an image are provided. To give a practical example, an image is received as a pixel expression. The image is converted from the pixel expression into multiple resolution expression containing a multiple resolution coefficient. Each multiple resolution coefficient is quantized, and the error is sent to one or more other multiple resolution coefficients as defined by an error filter.
