PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aromatic polycarbonate with a good transparency and a composition of the same. SOLUTION: The aromatic polycarbonate, characterized in that a compound substantially becomes a polymer from a repeating unit expressed by formula (1) (where, R1, R2, R3and R4are independently a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a 1-10C alkyl, a 7-10C aralkyl or a 6-10C aryl, W is a single bond, an alkylidene group, an alkylene group, a cycloalkylidene group, a cycloalkylene group, an oxygen atom, a ketone group, a sulfur atom, a sulfoxide group, or a sulfone group.) obtained by polycondensating an aromatic dihydroxy compound and a diester carbonate in the presence of a transesterification catalyst, the compound is the aromatic polycarbonate where the viscosity average molecular weight is 10,000 to 25,000, and the transesterification catalyst contains alkali metal (M1) elements, whose atomic number is 37 or higher and alkali metal (M2) elements, whose atomic number is 19 or lower, and the compound is a mixture with a mole ratio of the alkali metal elements (M1/M2) of 100 to 10,000.
