PURPOSE: A method for sharing a row pre-decoder and a semiconductor memory apparatus are provided to reduce the chip area by installing the pre-decoder and a bank select address decoder on an interface region. CONSTITUTION: A pre-decoder(11) decodes a row address to simultaneously select respective word lines of a plurality of banks(bank0-bank31) corresponding to the row address. A bank select address decoder(15,17) decodes a bank select address to select a bank out of the plurality of banks(bank0-bank31), corresponding to the bank select address. The pre-decoder(11) and the bank select address decoder(15,17) are installed on an interface region. The respective word line is activated in response to an output signal from the pre-decoder(11) and an output signal from the bank select address decoder(15,17).
