PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an armature for motor which enables reduction in manufacturing cost. SOLUTION: The armature of a direct-current motor comprises a rotating shaft 5 and a commutator 7, and the commutator 7 is fixed to the rotating shaft 5. A groove 15 and a whirl-stop projection 16 are formed on the peripheral surface of the rotating shaft 5. The groove 15 is so formed that the groove 15 is long in the direction of the axis of the rotating shaft 5, and the cross section thereof is in the shape of a wedge which bites into the rotating shaft from the peripheral surface thereof toward the inner radius side thereof at a sharp angle. The whirl-stop projection 16 is so formed that the projection 16 is protrudes adjacent to the groove 15 in the circumferential direction, by forming the groove 15. The commutator 7 is press-fitted and secured onto the whirl-stop projection 16 of the rotating shaft 5. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
