PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To handle a document or to set a document reserving period by the same operation as performing access from a client machine to a home page while using a web server. SOLUTION: Facsimile receiving or electronic mail receiving of data is performed via a telephone line or network line and the file of the received data is stored in an external storage part 4. Afterwards, the stored data are printed by a printer 5. Besides, a setting picture file for setting whether the data are to be printed by the printer 5 or to be maintained in a state of storage in the external storage part 4 is stored in an HTML file. Corresponding to a request from a connected terminal, a WWW server part 12 transmits the setting file to the terminal. When setting is instructed through the setting file in the terminal, according to this instruction, it is distinguished and controlled whether the data are to be printed or the state of storage in the external storage part 4 as a file is to be maintained.
